4 months around Australia cured my anxiety!
It’s funny how they say love cures all and everything in life happens in perfect timing and for a reason… I had been suffering the affects of a ‘too busy’ lifestyle for too long and was dealing with fairly severe anxiety, which is one of the most debilitating things I’ve ever ventured through. Struggling to get out of the shower and go to work some mornings because the overwhelm and pressure of life was all too much. I remember one morning sitting at the top of our stairs crying and I literally couldn’t stop the flow of tears and overwhelm and ended up having to go into work late…. anyone who has suffered anxiety will know what an overwhelming experience it can be and how much control it can grab a hold of your life when it feels like.
I guess it was life’s way of telling me to take a side step, time for a change, a different path and that’s when my Knight in Shining Armour helped me pack my life away into storage, and whisked me off on the trip of a lifetime!
We were lucky enough to spend 4 months travelling all the way from Gold Coast up to Cairns, Port Douglas, across and down the middle of Australia, through Uluru, Kings Canyon, all the way south to Cobber Pedy. Then it was all the way back North – I swear that Stuart Highway is the longest, most boring road ever ventured. After Darwin we headed across to Broome for a week and I could of just stayed for ever. It was strange having the sunset over the ocean after living on the East Coast for so long and always watching the sun rise over the ocean. Finally after leaving Broome we headed south towards Perth, stopping along the way – another highlight was Coral Bay and I wish we’d stayed longer.

Travelling by day, supported by the comfort and luxury of leather seats, wrapping their soft arms around me. Sitting by night under star-filled skies, around the campfire, drinking cocktails and eating like a Queen. Sleeping on the roof listening to sounds of nature, Dingo’s howling in the distance. Waking up fresh with Yoga every morning, stretching, feeling amazing, and no pressure of having to be anywhere!!
What a way to cure the anxiety…
Yes, he bolted a roof top tent on the Clubsport.
Yes, we’ve seen roaming free in the wild; Horses, Emus, Dingoes, Kangaroos, Wallabies, Cows, big cheeky Bulls, Donkey, Snakes, Spiders, massive Goannas, big Praying Mantis, gigantic Wedge-tailed Eagles, many birds, salty and fresh water Crocs… True Aussie Experience and the only thing I missed out on was wild Camels, but I did ride one in Broome.
No, we didn’t do this trip on a budget, we did it once and did it all.
Yes, we did spend over $800 each for a day adventure to see one of the greatest wonders of the natural world.
Yes, we did mix up the sleeping with some nights in hotels, so we could relax in the spa bath… and find out what happens when Jodie puts too much bubble bath in and walks away to find her wine glass!
