Where to start if you are a perfectionist?

Are you a Perfectionist

Just start somewhere !!

The term ‘perfectionist’ means:

‘A person who refuses to accept any standard short of perfection.’

One of the hardest things for business owner perfectionists when building a website is their content. In fact that is often the hardest part for most business owners. The problem is you can write about your business and continue to improve upon it, but never be quite happy enough to have a finialised version. It can be daunting to write or create something and put it out to the world, but these feelings of overwhelm are just normal human nature – get over it and get on with it!

You are far better to put something out there than hit a road block and not share what it is you have to say – we all have something to share with the world that will help at least one other person out there.

Do you finish something you’re happy with one minute only to turn around and realise it’s not perfect? If you do that too often you’ll start to cause anxiety and overthinking in your mind! The thing to remember is we are human and forever growing and evolving so if we can learn to accept OK is enough then it means we can get to a point we are OK about and then come back to improve upon later – that is the beauty of a website it can forever evolve with you.

Accepting where we are at and being ok with it is how we can successfully continue to grow.

So if you are stuck with writing content for your website, below are some helpful tips to get you motivated!

  • Start by jotting down bullet points of what it is you need to say and then write them into punchy sentences later.
  • Ask yourself and keep answering these 6 keys: What, Why, Who, When, Where, How ???
  • The message you have to say / share will always continue to grow and change, that is the beauty of your website and you can easily change text later, just get something written vs nothing.
  • When you write paragraphs remember to have a start, a middle and a summary. Don’t be scattered with your writing, keep remembering what your main message is and make sure you cover all you need to say.
  • Have fun with it and let your personality shine through.
  • If it is really too hard, just hire someone to do it for you – we can help!
